Look what we have here? The sure keeps bringing us more and more surprises — unlike most devices that lack the Bluetooth HID profile, here it is paired up with our wireless keyboard and mouse (Apple’s Wireless Keyboard and , specifically) without any driver hacks. Streak Smart, who made this discovery, had the same experience as us with its keyboard and an unknown mouse — typing was as smooth as cutting butter with a hot knife, but the mouse couldn’t do much due to the lack of pointer and scrolling support. If you insist, the forthcoming is confirmed to both devices natively, but it shouldn’t be long before we see a mouse hack for the green bot. P.S. — Since commenter dudeville was asking, here’s how to pair the Apple keyboard with the Streak: type a four-digit PIN on the phone when prompted, then type the same number on the keyboard and press the enter key. Good luck!

Driving in could get a little more annoying in the coming days. The Legislature of the state that brought you Brody Jenner and Spencer Pratt is now considering a bill which would allow the beginning of research into electronic license plates for vehicles. The new-fangled plates would look just like regular ones when a vehicle was in motion, but would flash awesome and other messages when stopped for more than four seconds. One San Francisco based startup, Smart Plate, is already hard at work on developing just such a device, but they’re not in production yet. The measure is seen largely as a money making scheme for California, which — like nearly everywhere else in the world — is heavily in debt after several years of hard partying and irresponsible shopping trips. Parties interested in advertising on the plates would apparently contact the California DMV directly (then wait in line for 12 to 14 hours before submitting their preliminary application for ad space). If approved, the DMV will be required to submit its research and findings to the Legislature by January of 2013. Here’s to !

It may not be a big deal — Android’s done it for years — but some will no doubt be interested to learn that Apple can monitor your GPS. In the latest revision of its privacy policy, presumably updated for , it revealed the company can anonymously track the “real-time geographic location” of devices and is free to share that data with “partners and licensees” as well. In a nutshell, that means Cupertino could potentially sell location data, but don’t get in a tiff just yet — the company says it will do so anonymously and for location-based services only.

Speaking of sales and personally identifiable data, another addition to iOS 4 is the ad network , which monitors your browsing habits and interests and serves up targeted advertisements respectively. According to the updated privacy policy, however, you don’t need to let the OS do that. Simply navigate to http://oo.apple.com to shut down automated cookie collection, and you’ll see boring, generic ads instead.

Well, what do we have here? Oh, just an insane fridge concept that we can really get behind... because we want to store our food in green goo without using any . The Bio Robot refrigerator works by cooling a biopolymer gel via luminescence. Food gets loaded into the gel, and the surface tension of the gel creates an individual pod for each piece added, meaning that nothing is touching anything else, and no odors transfer. The refrigerator itself would take up a lot less space than current models, and could apparently be stored horizontally, vertically, or in zero gravity conditions! Listen Microsoft, we know you’ve been wanting to stay absolutely mum on ’s price since its official E3 unveiling, even as . The FCC’s may have just proven its worth, by shifting up to 90MHz from mobile satellite services to cellular broadband. To placate those who might be opposed to the measure, the FCC says it “remains firmly committed” to rural, emergency and government satellites, plus points out precedents like the in March... but interestingly the Task Force neither mentions support for commercial satellite uses, nor which companies stand to gain the freed spectrum this time. FCC SPECTRUM TASK FORCE ANNOUNCES PLAN TO UNLEASH ADDITIONAL SPECTRUM FOR MOBILE BROADBAND

Washington, D.C. — Today, the Federal Communications Commission Spectrum Task Force announced a plan to increase value, utilization, and investment in mobile satellite service (MSS) bands, which will kick off with a Commission proceeding in July.

“One of the FCC’s oldest and most important responsibilities is to develop wireless spectrum policies that stimulate investment and keep pace with innovation,” said FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski. “This Spectrum Task Force initiative will open the door to exciting new opportunities in mobile — new networks, new devices, new competition, and new technologies. The mobile broadband revolution is upon us, the opportunities are huge, and the FCC is committed to ensuring that America has the spectrum it needs to lead the world.“

The National Broadband Plan, delivered to Congress in March, outlined a comprehensive strategy for making 500 MHz of spectrum available for wireless broadband services by 2020, a strategy that Chairman Julius Genachowski charged the newly created Spectrum Task Force with overseeing.

“The Spectrum Task Force has already begun executing the Commission’s spectrum agenda, consistent with the spectrum plan outlined in the National Broadband Plan,” said Ruth Milkman, Co-Chair of the Task Force. “Job number one is to make more spectrum available for flexible use, including terrestrial mobile broadband.”

The FCC has taken important steps to put the spectrum strategy into action. Shortly after the broadband plan’s release, the FCC approved the Harbinger-SkyTerra transaction, which will enable Harbinger to invest billions of dollars in building a 4G wireless network using spectrum that includes the MSS bands. In May, the Commission adopted the WCS-SDARS Order, making 25 MHz of spectrum available for mobile broadband services.

Today, the Spectrum Task Force announced a proceeding to unleash up to 90 MHz of additional spectrum for mobile broadband, consistent with the National Broadband Plan recommendation to accelerate terrestrial deployment in the mobile satellite service band. By removing policies that are currently barriers to flexible use of terrestrial mobile wireless service, there is an opportunity to enable the deployment of mobile broadband, while retaining market-wide MSS capability, especially for public safety, rural services, and the federal government.

“This initiative is an opportunity to make additional spectrum available for mobile broadband by promoting greater spectrum efficiency and flexibility,” said Julie Knapp, Co-Chair of the Task Force. “The Spectrum Task Force remains firmly committed to maintaining robust mobile satellite capability that serves important needs like disaster recovery and rural access. I am confident that we can achieve all of these goals and create a win-win solution.“
